SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is used to validate whether an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain will stop the faking of emails generated with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send e-mail messages from mail boxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses verifies if it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however when it doesn't originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address and make it look as if you are sending spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for each domain hosted in a shared website hosting account on our cloud platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The feature is available in the Emails section of our revolutionary Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to choose one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be certified to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the emails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This option gives you the highest level of safety, but it's not applicable if only your website is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are managed somewhere else. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is provided with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you are able to use this particular service effortlessly for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a really easy to work with interface, so you will not have to be tech-savvy in order to protected your e-mails. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be active for the domain that you have picked. As an extra option, we will also allow you to restrict the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of by us and not by a different supplier. By doing so you'll get even superior control and there will not be any chances for someone to counterfeit your emails for harmful purposes.
