Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific service provider. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically the moment the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that deals with the e-mails for that specific Internet domain. The site and the email hosting are usually perceived as one thing, when they are in reality two different services. Having different records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you wish. As an example, some new company may have fantastic uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an e-mail - in any case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

If you have a shared website hosting service from us, you are going to be able to see, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a specific Internet domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to change specific records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or emails pointed to any other service provider if you want to use only one of our services. Our advanced tool will enable you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address the slightest bit. If you decide to use the e-mail services of another provider and they want you to set up more than 2 MX records, you can easily do that with just a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from us, you'll be able to see and change the A and MX records for each of the domain addresses or subdomains you host inside the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you'll get to control the account, provides an advanced, albeit easy-to-use tool in which all hosts will be listed in alphabetical order and you are going to be able to edit their records with no more than a couple of mouse clicks. If you have to set up a new record, it will be just as simple - select the domain/subdomain, enter the IP address or mail server record and you are going to be all set. You'll also be able to set different priority for the MX records that you create in case that you choose to use a third-party e-mail provider and they ask you to create additional records apart from the 2 default ones. If you ever encounter any issues, you will find a in-depth Help section with videos in which you can see first-hand how to create or modify any record.
